For every new entrepreneur, there is a seasoned business owner. This Gathering was meant to appeal to both sides of that aisle by highlighting that Starting can have just as many challenges and solutions as Investing or Growing. Our presenters spoke to these core elements, and how they create opportunities. Let’s get into what you might’ve missed from this week’s Thursday Gathering!
To start, we had Mary Scott from Business Riff presentation on How Do Startups Start?. Her goal was to provide new startups and entrepreneurs with the resources necessary to elevate their idea or mission in order to scale. This session was a reminder of how Venture Café’s community is interdependent. As many of you may (or may not) know, Mary is an avid Venture Café guest, and Ambassador. She encapsulates the essence of Venture Café, which is to connect, learn, and share.
Speaking of our community, we had another veteran Ambassador and attendee host an Office Hours session this week. Mike LaBozzetta from Faro Law LLC hosted his familiar Small Business Law presentation. This session was dedicated to helping those who are just breaking into the small business ecosystem by giving them knowledge and insight of the legal hurdles they may encounter such as, Contract Negotiation & Drafting, IP Strategy, and Choice of Entity.
Finally, we heard from Keisha Mabry, Director of Entrepreneurship at WePower. She hosted a Google Watch Party by the name of Grow With Google: How to Drive Traffic To Your Website With SEO. SEO — or Search Engine Optimization — is a crucial and core element in today’s business landscape, and can be make or break for many entities. Keisha’s workshop focused on the very practical and real world skills necessary to thrive in SEO. You can find the link to her workshop HERE.

Moving into July, our new programming will focus on What’s Next?!. We aim to spotlight and elevate many different industries, skills, and technology in ecosystems that are all too often invisible.
