Woo-boy! You guys were engaged this Gathering! With plethora of content and experts in the space, our community definitely made us feel the love! It was a gangbuster event and our highest attended to date this year, with a whooping 251 people! If you missed it, don’t worry, as always this VenCaf Recap has you covered! Let’s get into what you might’ve missed at this Community Activations.
Kicking off this Gathering was a new partnership and collaboration with Venture Café and WePower called The Get Together: Capital & Community Convos. This partnership aims to create space for entrepreneurs to be in community with other entrepreneurs through workshops, and relationship building with a new topic to be highlighted every month. The inaugural collaboration started with Rachel Burns of Bold Spoon Creamery and Tyler Kelley of SLAM! diving into growth, strategy and costs. Speaking of strategy, costs and growth, Dennis Donoghue of CreatiVenture Law helped new budding entrepreneurs with a breakdown of patents, copyright, and trade law.
That is just the tip of the iceberg however, as we also featured Brandon Becker of Dataplant. Brandon led a workshop that broke into how Dataplant is changing the landscape of data analytics and how community members can be the first to keep their finger on the pulse with this new innovation. Alongside Brandon, Detra Norwood returned to Venture Café but, as a demonstrator, not a community member! Her Delicious Delight cookies were a hit alongside the ice cream provided by Rachel, a match made in heaven some might say.
Rounding off our Activations was Jared Wehde from Veryable. A new app that aims to provide blue-collar workers with the control over their labour and time that companies would normally possess. Veryable caters to new-comers and veterans alike!
Even all of that wasn’t the end of this Gathering, as STL REE’s Pitch Competition graced our doors, and showed off their top three contestants who Pitched to our community! The community then voted to give a reward of $500 to who they believe was the best pitch of the evening.
Like I said, it was a packed event and one we are sure to remember! As we look forward to the rest of April, keeps your eyes on April 27th, because TechWeek is coming to Venture Café! After hitting the spots in the rest of the city, Tech STL will be bringing the week long event to our Gathering, find out more on our website or our social media. With that said, if you stopped by our Community Activations gathering thank you so much for making it so successful and we hope to see you at the next one!
