ABOUT THE SESSION

This session will cover the nonpartisan mission and national strategy of Veterans for Political Innovation. In annual Gallup polls, veterans and small business owners consistently poll as two of America’s most trusted institutions. How can we most effectively mobilize some of America’s most trusted messengers to help repair some of our least trusted institutions (politics and our government). Too many big problems are not being solved by our elected leaders because of poisonous partisanship and toxic behavior fueled by low turnout partisan primary elections. Close to 50% of veterans do not identify with either major political party and they are tired of being treated like second-class citizens in their own democracy. Veterans are mobilizing for the most powerful, achievable (nonpartisan) election innovations — Top 4 or 5 Open Primary Elections and Ranked-choice / Instant Runoff Voting (a/k/a “Final-5 Voting). The lack of competition in the “politics industry” is failing America. We need more choices, more voices and more real competition in all of our elections.  Final-5 Voting delivers real competition in this urgent time of need — to help make our elections better, our elected leaders more accountable and our politics less toxic.
