Technological Tides: ChatGPT and the Imperative of Educational Redesign

In-person session

August 10, 2023 | 4:00 PM - 4:30 PM
Room: James Crutchfield

The continuous evolution of technology, as exemplified by ChatGPT and other generative AI tools, predicates a fundamental reassessment of educational paradigms. Such groundbreaking tools herald the transformation of educational design, purpose, function, and deployment, advancing from mentor-led instruction in ancient Greece to present-day MOOCs, and charting a course towards personalized, democratized knowledge dissemination. ChatGPT, in particular, unveils hitherto unimagined possibilities for individualized learning and adaptive content delivery. As such, this talk underscores the role of ChatGPT and its ilk in the lineage of disruptive technologies necessitating educational reform. The goal is to unravel the intersection of technology and culture within the contemporary educational framework.
