Harry Arader is President and owner of The Centromere Group, a life-science business-consulting firm. Through the Centromere Group, Mr. Arader has been involved as CEO, CBO CFO in ten life-science start-up companies, each of which raised at least $500K. Two of the ten achieved highly lucrative exits and three other companies are moving towards exits. In the Economic Development aspect of his consulting practice, in mid 2015 he launched BioSTL Fundamentals – an entrepreneur coaching and resources program offered by St. Louis-based BioGenerator. He continues to lead this program. In 1997 through 2002, he wrote and implemented the “Illinois State Strategic Plan for the Biotechnology Industry”. He was one of the founders of The Illinois Biotechnology Organization (IBIO). Mr. Arader was also the principle consultant to the University of Illinois during the design and creation of Illinois Ventures, a seed and early-stage venture fund. Prior to his roles at the Centromere Group, Mr. Arader was Chief Financial Officer of Millennium Pharmaceuticals Inc. where he was a key participant in the firm’s IPO that raised $57 million. He also led the Finance and Strategic Planning functions during a period of rapid growth and implemented a major acquisition. Prior to Millennium, Mr. Arader spent 13 years at Searle Pharmaceuticals and Merck and Co. in Sales, Marketing, Business Development, Strategic Planning and Country Management.
